Graeme MacGilchrist (Chair):
Originally from Edinburgh, I moved to Pittenweem in 2024 to be closer to my job in St Andrews. I work as a researcher and lecturer at the University, in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, where I study the ocean and its impact on climate. I joined the Community Council with a view to getting to know the town better and to understand the issues faced by residents and businesses.

Janet Dick:
I moved here just over 4 years ago after a lifetime of living and working in Edinburgh. I was an active member of the area I lived in until I decided I’d had enough. Pittenweem is now my home. This place is special because of the people who live here, they are what make our community and every one of us has a part to play in taking care of that.
Louise McEwan:

Simon Learoyd:
After a career in financial services, Simon is now retired and lives in Viewforth Place. He was previously a member of the Pittenweem Arts Festival board for six years and is currently a Board member of the Glasgow School of Art and a Trustee of the Faculty of Advocates. He regards the Community Council as an important forum for the local community to have a voice to be able to provide direction to the preservation and future.
Stewart Moreland:
I’ve lived in Pittenweem for 25 years with my wife, Jean. We are both retired. I was formerly employed by Fife Council for 40 years primarily as a manager but in my later time carrying out inspections and audits of work processes. My main interests in life are keeping an active healthy lifestyle with a passion for the environment. My hobby is mainly gardening and the occasional trips on my bike.
Valerie Morrison:
I arrived in Pittenweem in the mid 1990s and we subsequently bought a house for permanent residence in the early 2000s. My career began as a Home Economist and Cookery Demonstrator with a large national company and then moved into Communications and Public Relations. Latterly I started my own company called Community Connections where I worked with Edinburgh City Council to enhance the image of the community within North Edinburgh. After settling in Pittenweem I helped set up the Pittenweem Wine Club which I ran successfully for over 15 years. I have also been part of Pittenweem Fisherman’s Memorial Association and the East Neuk Preservation Society where I was the local representative. I am looking forward to working with the Community Council and hope my experience can help promote, support and develop their work to the benefit of the community.
